Dr. Jennifer Rushton Featured by Texas Medical Association

Oculus Pathology is proud to share that Dr. Jennifer Rushton was recognized by the Texas Medical Association (TMA) as a featured member.

The statewide spotlight highlights physicians who demonstrate leadership, dedication to their specialty, and commitment to advancing patient care across Texas.

A San Antonio–based pathologist and long-time member of the Bexar County Medical Society, Dr. Rushton has been a TMA member since 2000.  She also recently was installed as the Bexar County Medical Society (BCMS) president and serves as a member of the Texas Delegation to the American Medical Association.

When asked about her role as a physician advocate, Dr. Rushton said, “Once you get involved and see the difference you can make, you want to be engaged. Once you see that you can actually effect change, it’s empowering.”

That mindset reflects what defines Oculus Pathology. Our practice is built on subspecialty expertise, diagnostic precision, and physicians who approach every case with curiosity and clinical rigor. Pathology is not passive. It requires constant analysis, collaboration with clinical partners, and the ability to solve complex diagnostic questions that directly shape patient outcomes.

At Oculus Pathology, that commitment to advocacy and professional leadership is part of our culture. Our physicians are engaged not only in laboratory medicine, but also in advancing standards, strengthening partnerships with hospitals and health systems, and ensuring patients across Texas receive high-quality diagnostic care.

Dr. Rushton is triple board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, molecular genetic pathology, and hematopathology. She joined Oculus Pathology in 2010 and serves as the Medical Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine for Baptist Health System in San Antonio.

We congratulate Dr. Rushton on this well-earned recognition and invite you to learn more about the experienced, physician-led team behind Oculus Pathology’s comprehensive services.
