“Movember” draws focus to prostate and testicular cancer, two of the most common cancers among men, and few professionals embody the call for early detection and tailored treatment more than Dr. Paul B. Gaudin, director of urologic and breast pathology services at Oculus Pathology.
“Dr. Gaudin’s expertise in urologic pathology has been central to Oculus Pathology’s reputation for diagnostic excellence,” said Matt Thompson, CEO. “He has advanced our methodologies in immunohistochemistry and cancer diagnostics, ensuring greater consistency, accuracy, and speed in results that inform life-saving treatment decisions. His influence extends well beyond the microscope — shaping the standards, training, and quality systems that define our work. Recognizing him this ‘Movember’ is both timely and well deserved.”
Dr. Gaudin joined Oculus Pathology in 1999 and has spent more than two decades helping guide its growth and uphold high clinical standards. His subspecialty expertise in urologic, breast, oncologic, and general surgical pathology, along with his work in immunohistochemistry, has made him a respected leader in both the lab and the wider medical community.
He currently serves as the director of urologic and breast pathology services for Oculus Pathology and the director of the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory at Seton Medical Center Austin.
After earning his medical and undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan, Dr. Gaudin completed his residency and fellowship training at two of the country’s most prestigious institutions: The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His research and numerous peer-reviewed publications have advanced the field of prostate pathology, helping to clarify the nuances of complex diagnoses such as adenosis and prostate stromal sarcomas.
“‘Movember’ underscores the critical importance of early and precise diagnosis in men’s health,” said Dr. Gaudin. “Pathology plays a pivotal role in that process, and it’s deeply rewarding to know that our work at the microscopic level drives real differences in patient outcomes.”
Dr. Gaudin’s decades of clinical leadership and subspecialty insight help make Oculus Pathology a trusted diagnostic partner across Texas. And as “Movember” shines a light on men’s health, we’re proud to honor his dedication to advancing care in one of the most vital areas of medicine.
