Edward G. Weir, M.D., brings those values to Oculus Pathology as Director of Hematopathology Services and president of the Oculus Pathology board of directors. Double board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology, Dr. Weir joined Oculus Pathology in 2005. His primary service location is St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas, where he supports clinicians with advanced pathology expertise and collaborative diagnostic insight.
“Dr. Weir has been instrumental in shaping Oculus Pathology into the kind of pathology group clinicians can rely on for both expertise and partnership,” said Matt Thompson, CEO of Oculus Pathology. “His leadership reflects what we believe pathology should be: precise, responsive, collaborative, and deeply connected to the needs of the hospitals, practices, ASCs, and specialty physician practices we serve.”
Dr. Weir’s leadership supports an organizational culture where subspecialty expertise is shared across cases, pathologists work closely with one another, and clinical partners have access to informed, responsive diagnostic consultation. For our partners, that level of coordination helps create a more seamless connection between the laboratory and the point of care.
Dr. Weir completed his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency and Hematopathology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his undergraduate education at Boston University.
His academic contributions also reflect a longstanding commitment to advancing the field of hematopathology. Dr. Weir has authored and contributed to numerous academic publications, including Blood and Leukemia on acute leukemias, Hodgkin lymphoma, residual disease detection, and diagnostically complex hematologic conditions.
