At Oculus Pathology, excellence in diagnostics begins with people who bring both technical precision and a deep sense of professional purpose to every patient case. That’s why we’re proud to recognize Jesse McCoy, MHS, PA(MASCP)CM, as a recipient of the 2025 ASCP Mastership Award — one of the most prestigious distinctions in the field of pathology and laboratory medicine.
“Jesse’s dedication to the practice of pathology and her recognition by ASCP mirror the values that drive our mission at Oculus Pathology,” said Matt Thompson, MHSM, CMPE, CEO. “Her leadership, collaboration, and commitment to quality exemplify how we approach our work — with precision, integrity, and a shared goal of improving patient outcomes.”
The ASCP Mastership designation (MASCP) recognizes members who have made significant contributions to the field of pathology and laboratory medicine and to the ASCP through leadership, education, and advocacy. Jesse first became involved with the ASCP as a Career Ambassador in 2007, shortly after graduating from the Quinnipiac University program. For Oculus Pathology, Jesse’s recognition reflects the same standards that define our work every day: collaboration, clinical partnership, and uncompromising diagnostic excellence.
Jesse joined Oculus Pathology in June 2025 as a Pathologists’ Assistant with more than 18 years of clinical experience and four years of academic leadership as the Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor for the NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.
Throughout her career, Jesse has combined her hands-on technical mastery with a passion for advancing the field through mentorship and professional service with both the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and the American Association for Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA): Her leadership roles include:
- Chief Financial Officer and Executive Committee Board Member, AAPA
- Art Director, Grossing Guidelines publication, AAPA
- Member, Workforce Steering Committee, ASCP
- Former Chair, Council for Laboratory Professionals, ASCP
- Former Member-at-Large, Commission on Membership, ASCP
This milestone not only celebrates Jesse’s individual excellence but also reinforces Oculus Pathology’s mission to deliver accurate, clinically relevant diagnoses through collaboration between pathologists, pathologist assistants, and clinicians. From academic mentorship to diagnostic innovation, Jesse’s work reflects the forward-thinking leadership that helps Oculus Pathology bridge the gap between the lab and the clinic — ensuring every case is managed with clarity, confidence, and care.
Congratulations to Jesse on this well-earned recognition and for her continued contributions to the advancement of pathology.
