Oculus Pathology provides the only board-certified neuropathology service in Central Texas, led by Min Wang, M.D., Ph.D., director of Neuropathology Services.
Dr. Wang joined Oculus Pathology in 2012 and primarily serves Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. His work supports the diagnosis of diseases affecting the central and peripheral nervous system, including neoplastic and non-neoplastic disorders in adult and pediatric patients.
Neuropathology requires specialized training, careful clinicopathologic correlation and a command of advanced diagnostic tools. Dr. Wang brings that depth to cases involving brain, spinal cord, nerve, pituitary, ocular and muscle tissue. His service also includes post-mortem brain examination and consultation on outside cases that require focused neuropathology expertise.
“Dr. Wang’s expertise gives our practice and the clinicians we serve access to a level of neuropathology knowledge that is difficult to find in the region,” said Matt Thompson, CEO of Oculus Pathology. “His work strengthens our ability to support complex diagnoses with the precision these cases require.”
Dr. Wang completed his neuropathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine after completing his anatomic pathology residency at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Bengbu Medical College in Anhui, China, and his Ph.D. in medical sciences from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing.
His academic and research background includes published work on oligodendroglioma, angiocentric glioma, pituitary apoplexy, melanocytoma, CNS complications in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia and primary germ cell tumors of the central nervous system. That body of work reflects a career focused on diagnostically demanding neurologic disease.
At Oculus Pathology, Dr. Wang’s neuropathology service is supported by state-of-the-art immunohistochemical and molecular testing for diagnosis and prognostic markers. These tools help guide more complete diagnostic assessment and give treating physicians the information they need for care planning.
Dr. Wang also contributes to patient care beyond the microscope through participation in neuro-oncology tumor boards and multidisciplinary conferences. In those settings, his expertise helps connect pathology findings with clinical decision-making for patients with CNS tumors and non-tumor CNS diseases.
Through his leadership, research background and subspecialty practice, Dr. Wang helps Oculus Pathology deliver advanced neuropathology expertise to clinicians and patients across Central Texas.
