In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, this edition of Under the Microscope shines a light on Dr. Chandra Krishnan, Director of Pediatric Pathology at Oculus Pathology, Vice President of the Oculus Pathology Board of Directors and Medical Director at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas in Austin.
Board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Hematopathology, and Pediatric Pathology, Dr. Krishnan brings deep expertise to the diagnosis and management of pediatric cancers. His fellowship training at Stanford University and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas laid the foundation for a career focused on complex pediatric cases — from embryonal tumors to cutaneous vascular lesions and lymph node pathology.
His work enables faster, more precise diagnoses that drive treatment decisions — especially for time-sensitive and high-stakes conditions like leukemia and neuroblastoma.
“Dr. Krishnan’s leadership in pediatric cancer diagnostics makes him an essential part of both the Oculus Pathology team and the broader medical community,” said Matt Thompson, CEO of Oculus Pathology. “His ability to integrate scientific depth with true clinical collaboration is exactly what sets Oculus Pathology apart.”
In addition to his day-to-day impact on patient care, Dr. Krishnan is a published researcher and a nationally recognized leader, named one of ASCP’s 40 Under Forty for his contributions to pathology and lab medicine.
During a month that brings attention to childhood cancer, Dr. Krishnan’s work serves as a powerful reminder: expert pathology changes lives. His commitment to thoughtful, collaborative diagnostics is helping ensure that young patients and their families receive answers — and care — without delay.
