Supporting Early Detection with Precision: Oculus Pathology and Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month reminds us of the essential role of pathology in accurate diagnosis and staging to guide treatment planning.  At Oculus Pathology, that mission is more than a moment on the calendar — it’s a daily commitment. Our subspecialty-trained pathologists provide expert breast pathology services that help diagnose, guide treatment decisions, and support better outcomes.

With more than 45 board-certified pathologists and more than 75 years of service across Texas and beyond, Oculus Pathology offers deep experience in breast biopsy interpretation, surgical margins, molecular testing, and second-opinion consultations. Our pathologists collaborate closely with women’s health providers, breast surgeons, radiologists, and oncologists to ensure each diagnosis is accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful.

“Breast cancer diagnosis is one of the most sensitive and critical areas of our work,” said Matt Thompson, CEO, Oculus Pathology. “It’s not just about reading a slide — it’s about providing the clarity and confidence that clinicians and patients need to take the next step. Our pathologists know what’s at stake, and they bring a level of expertise and care that reflects that.”

Whether we’re interpreting screening biopsies or evaluating complex surgical specimens, our goal is the same: support the right diagnosis, at the right time, for every patient.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to advocate for early screening, raise awareness, and recognize the collaborative care teams working to detect and treat breast cancer. At Oculus Pathology, we’re proud to be part of that effort — delivering answers that make a difference.
